# SSH

SSH gives operators controlled access to a running app environment for debugging and maintenance. Enable the SSH server, generate tokens, manage users, and attach authorized keys from the dedicated SSH reference pages.

## Features

### Server controls

Read and update whether SSH is enabled for an app before handing connection details to an operator.

### Users and tokens

Use users, passwords, authorized keys, and short-lived tokens to fit the access model for your team.

### Operational escape hatch

Keep SSH for focused inspection and recovery tasks. Prefer deployments, environment variables, and managed resources for repeatable changes.

## Common workflow

1. Enable or inspect the SSH server for an app.
2. Create or update users and authentication methods.
3. Attach authorized keys or generate a token.
4. Disable access when the maintenance window is complete.
